I recommend you read a collection of essays by Martin Heidegger, called “Poetry, Language,Thought”. Specially an essay called The origin of the work of art 1960

It’s hard for me to explain his thoughts on art. The whole process of how he arrives to art as a disclosure of truth and putting forward of being, how he compares art to craft and artists from artisans is very revealing.
He starts with an ontological process studying the origin of the meaning of truth in the greek. He explains it as aletheia, truth as unclosednes and closednes of being, not as the modern definition of truth where it means conformity to nature. Truth hapens in the battle between world which fights to open itself, and earth which is conceling. In the Open which emerges happens the work of art.
… and I stop here… I’ll have to read it again less I start philosophizing.

ahora tengo un amigo que no vais a creerlo pero antes era José María Azanar. Bueno no lo era antes quiero decir, pero se hacía pasar por él. En todas las comunidades de tema político el estaba por ahí dando su opinión. Yo pensaba que era bueno que hubiera un abogado del Diablo en nuestras discusiones. Al fin y al cabo todos los que hablabamos somos de izquierdas. No es de estrañar ya que los de derechas son mas bien intolerantes, solo hablan para decir alguna cosa facha al estilo de, “lo que aquí hace falta es mano dura y a callar que vamos a ganar”, como si fueran hinchas de los blancos.

Hoy estuve leyendo en la comunidad Orkut Design sobre lo que te ha pasado con ciertos personajes como mi amigo. Lo han hecho también con todos con los que han empersonado a personajes famosos.
Es curioso, porque en la discusión que leí se quejaban de que habían BORRADO la cuenta de Santa Claus mientras que a otros personajes, sin embargo, simplemente se les han metido en jail, la carcel.

La discusión va de que en otra red social llamada Friendster pasó lo mismo. A mucha gente no le gustó que otros no tuvieran su propia identidad. Los llamaban “fakesters”.

El caso es que decían que la idea misma de las redes se desvirtuaba y dejaba de tener sentido si las personas tomaban otra identidad que no fuera la suya. El proposito de la red es conocer a gente con intereses comunes y crear relaciones, algo imposible si no usas tu propia identidad.
Por otro lado, otros defendían la necesidad de “fakesters”, por que decían, las relaciones entre personas deberían poder ser de cualquier tipo, libres, ¿por qué no puede haber una persona que lo que quiera es darle una nota de humor a las discusiones empersonando a otra?

En cualquier caso, no parece nada democrático que Orkut o cualquier otra marca decida que es lo correcto o no. Otro argumentaba que Orkut en su manera de ser al igual que cualquier otra red social no tiene futuro si no es libre. ¿Por qué ha de ser una marca, sea Friendsters, Orkut, yahoo etc, el que decida sobre una comunidad. No deja de tener tintes políticos, ¿verdad?

En el futuro, que debe ser claramente GNU, debemos ser capaces de unir plataformas creativas, API’s que sirvan para colaborar y que sea una forma libre de compartir datos de todos tipos como ahora se hace con la tecnología P2P.

I painted about circuits atracted first by the similarity between organic life and machines. At first it was a challenge to treat such a cyber theme with oil paints. I was used to paint in an expressionistic style with large brushes and this theme forced me to paint detail and smaller.
Later I started finding that circuits themselves had something organic about them in their patterns an I started concentrating on composition of circuits bythemselves. I found that taking them out of context gave them more organic life. I changed medium and started working with encaustics searching for the exagerated texture of wax, contrasting even more with the 2D nature of circuits.
The symbolism of circuits is so strong that they didn’t leave me any room for expressing other feelings or experimenting. Wax itself has started to demand working without concepts, so now I’m moving towards a more abstract direction.

There is a show with paintings of Mondigliani together with French and Spanish painters who new Mondigliani at the Pia Almunia center at the Cathedral. The show is until March 7th. Could be longer depending on publics response.
There will be about 20 pieces from Mondigliani and around 40 pieces in total together with other artists of the period who moved in the same setting, there is also a painting by Marc Chegal.
It’s usually quite dificult to find paintings of Mondigliani at shows because they are from private collections.
